David and The Holy Grail
David and Grail build a relationship within the Leper Messiah that will span from east to west and ensure that David’s lineage will live on in the west.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:
-
Grail, a prince from the Isle of Burton, with his traveling companion, Squire Polo, both travel to the east in search of adventure.
The two men could not have been more different in their approach to life: Grail is an uptight warrior who is brilliant in battle but does not understand women, David lives in the moment and is ruled by his instincts.
Even in battle, the two men have different approaches yet they also complement and learn from each other as they build their relationship.

“He is a clever military mind, I feel it!” David replied.
“Use all that he knows of war,” Zadok said.
“Clever like a fox.”
David drifted off in thought.
“We will learn from each other. I sense greatness in this stranger, this tightly wound man who is lost among the desert sands… this desert fox.”
David is brilliant in his understanding of Grail and shows great leadership in allowing the warrior to show his talent when it comes to military matters. This ability to allow men to highlight their abilities is David’s strength and a harbinger of things to come when he unites the twelve warring tribes. David is not threatened by talent!
Grail is a natural military mind and has learned many lessons of the war in the west.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:

Mist played havoc along the banks of the Bromain River and kept the two armies spellbound. At the final battle, the warrior prince outmaneuvered his enemy by traveling up and down the river banks until the enemy became weary with confusion and wet with despair. Then, during a daring night raid, Grail’s men crossed the river and slew the sleeping soldiers.
David has a much more well-rounded personality than Grail in that he can show a masculine side yet also has a vulnerable side which he is not afraid to show. David’s strength lays in that he is unafraid of being vulnerable and open to the universe.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:
-
David shook the sand from his robes and began to walk and as he did rose petals gently flowed from his footsteps. The flowers were carried on the wind while Davids men looked in in amazement as the Rose petal king surveyed the troops. Some soldiers bowed their heads while others turned away with tears in their eyes.
David’s ability to be open to the universe means he does not fear the unknown. In contrast to this ability, Grail fears the uncertainty of women and relationships.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:
-
He knew the heavy toll of a lonely heart. In matters of the heart, there was no training or selling of walls, no orderly march, only a blind lurch through uncharted territories. This lack of control brought on in him what he feared the most – uncertainty.
“Give me war, not love,” Grail thought as a dark cloud settled over his mind.
David knew how to extract what he lessons he needed to learn and also gave as much back in return.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:
-
‘Well then, my desert fox will teach me order and discipline and ill teach you how to climb the ramparts of the female heart.”
David taught the Captain of War how to loosen his reins!
