Take A Knee
Moses, Abraham, and David would have all taken a knee!
Ancient Israel was a multi-layered and multi-culture society that displayed many colors of skin, all accepted as much as humans accept differences in each other.
In fact, Moses married a black African, a Cushite! see Numbers 12:1
When God delivered Abraham’s descendants from Egypt, a “mixed multitude” went with them as they left Egypt – meaning that people from other ethnic groups accompanied them and thus became part of Israel. see Exodus 12:38
Abraham was from Mesopotamia, and ethnically he was probably an Aramean/Amorite. He and his family migrated to Canaan as did so many other people from different cultures.
David
David was always an outcast.
His troubled boyhood started in Belethhem where his father and subsequently his brothers and the entire townspeople, used him as a scapegoat.
0 Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found no one. see Psalm 69:21
They poisoned my food with gall and gave me vinegar to quench my thirst. see Psalm 69:22
David stole from villages, was hired by Philistines as a mercenary, and spent much of his youth hunted by the authorities – King Sauls’ men.
He escaped untold times from under the knee of authority!
David would take a hard look at the Twenty=first Century and understand that the only way to beat racism and anti-Semitism is hand to hand, day by day, and inch by inch.
Calling somebody out, not letting them get away with what they say.
Education is so important!
Black babies don’t hate white babies!
Christian babies don’t hate Jewish babies!
Racism is learned at the feet of your parents.
David’s battle cry might well be what Al Sharpton said at George Floyd’s funeral:
“Get your knee of our neck”
David, the outlaw, would have had no trouble burning down the corrupt infrastructure that allows police officers to kill based on the color of someones’ skin. He understood that mans’ inhumanity to man has to be fought head-on and with fury.
If he had been alive, I’m sure David would have fought in the Polish underground against the Nazi Occupation. He would have joined with Churchill to fight against the Nazis. Maybe he would have fought in the deep South against Governor Wallaces’ segregation and racism.
He would be on the streets today, in the United States, and every other country, fighting against the corrupt system.
“Sympathy For The Devil” by The Rolling Stones | Composers: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards:
Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faithI was ’round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fatePleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my gameI stuck around St. Petersberg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vainI rode a tank
Held a general’s rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stankPleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
What’s puzzling you is the nature of my game, oh yeahI watched with glee as your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the Gods they madeI shouted out
“Who killed the Kennedys?”
When after all
It was you and meLet me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I lay traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reach BombayPleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game, oh yeah
Well, get down, hit itPleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
But what’s confusin’ you is just the nature of my gameJust as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails just call me Lucifer
‘Cause I’m in need of some restraintSo if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesseOr I’ll lay your soul to waste, mmm yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, mmm yeah
But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game.
David would have no sympathy for the devil.
