Nick Cannon dropped by ViacomCBS
In an article by Jordan Moreau posted on https://variety.com entitled: Nick Cannon Dropped by ViacomCBS After Making Anti-Semitic Comments, a ViacomCBS spokesperson released a statement saying that the company’s relationship with Cannon is now terminated:
ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds.
Would King David laugh?
David went to war over many things such as land, water, territories, and a resting place for the Ark of the Covenant.
Would he do the same because Nick Cannon might or might not have said something anti-Semitic during his podcast with Professor Griff?
I very much doubt it.
David was Wild and Out in his time and took a great amount of heat for it. People wondered if he had an affair with Johnathan, Saul’s son. It was said he went around the bend in celebrating when he brought the Ark into Jerusalem for the first time, so much so that women told him he was acting in a manner not befitting a king.
In David’s time, rocks were hurled with slingshots and meant to kill. Words can be weaponized and wound sometimes but they do not kill.
I doubt that David would release the war chariots and sound the battle cry because Nick Cannon said something that David thought was antisemitic.
“In Cannon’s hour-plus podcast, he and Griffin contend that black people are the true Hebrews and that Jews have usurped their identity.
Both Jews and Blacks have been targeted with a great deal of hate on a global scale.
In David’s world, you fought till the death and in Nick’s world, you fight to replace the most disenfranchised.
Both are valid!
That hardly is anti-Semitism, but more an attempt to capture people’s minds and hearts.
Nick Apologies:
“I must apologize to my Jewish Brothers and Sisters for putting them in such a painful position, which was never my intention, but I know this whole situation has hurt many people and together we will make it right,” he wrote. “I have dedicated my daily efforts to continuing conversations to bring the Jewish Community and the African American community closer together, embracing our differences and sharing our commonalities.”

He went on to say he’d been invited to Israel, where he says, “I will receive teachings, lessons, and the truth about the Jewish history.”
And Nick’s statement above shows his ability to admit he needs to learn more about Jewish history and is in fact visiting Israel at some point.
David would be proud of Nick Cannon!
