Faith | Will all be Revealed?
Faith is the promise of an oasis in a vast empty desert.
The promise calls out to travelers on the great sands and promises a reward to those who abandon their desires and hold fast.
Very few have the resolve to hold it close and believe all will be revealed.
Excerpt from the Leper Messiah:
-
Days later Arlemay disappeared from the busy streets of Damascus and journeyed into the Persian desert once again. Before he left he kissed Haga, the cook, and his beloved Uncle Hussein al-Rashed and bestowed all of his fine clothing to his loyal servants, Ali and Omar.
“But master,” Ali said as he pulled the bright colored tunic over his head, “We come with you?”
Omar stood proudly in his new long coat. “Yes, as we always do.”
“I must go alone,” Arlemay, replied.
“But why?”
“All will be revealed,” Arlemay whispered as he left the fine house in the greatest city on earth.
Faith is a lonely journey! It’s not a church or synagogue bustling with activity and noise.
Your faith is often acquired silently and after many years of struggle.
Is it the outcome of the battle between dark and light?
When the scorpion and the viper slither through the mud in their eternal fight, is that the battle for faith? Are these creatures fighting for our souls or for their own?
Faith often comes in our darkest hours when we believe all hope is gone.
Excerpt from The Leper Messiah:
-
Already remembered the one who brought the scorpion and the viper together. The vision took hold of his soul and danced along the great desert sands.
At night he would not sleep but stare at the stars in the sky, hoping and praying for a sign. During the days he would wander past watering holes, searching in vain for a glimpse of her, a whisper of her voice. He looked into the pools of water, hoping to see her reflection.
The desert sands were not as hot as his desire to reach her again. With feverish energy, he moved deeper and deeper into the wasteland.
And on his lonely travels, he heard faint whispers on the desert wind: “My desert lover, you know not what you do, for I am the mystical rose, the light of the burning bush that burns brighter than the sun. Fear not my desert lover for I am the soul of the world!
Arlemays’ world was no longer the world of men. He had left behind the cares of the world and was searching for something greater than himself.
Who among us has such faith?
